Crowns

Crowns

Crowns are used to restore and enhance teeth that are damaged or weakened, this may occur when cavities are damaging a tooth. A Dental crown, if taken care of properly, can last up to 25-30 years. A crown, also called a cap, referred in dentistry to the anatomical area of teeth, is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth, either broken or chipped, by bonding the tooth with dental cement. A crown not only strengthens the tooth, but it can also dramatically improve the tooth's appearance, shape and alignment, and make it look like your natural teeth.

Crowns may be used to...
  • Replace a large filling when there is little tooth structure remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discolored or poorly-shaped tooth
  • Cover and protect a tooth that has had root canal treatment
